Eat the right oils, avoid inflammation! Dr. Berger reveals the truth about omega fatty acids.

Modern people are consuming the wrong oils: the proportion of omega-3 fatty acids is severely imbalanced.
Dr. Berg points out that modern people's health problems are often not due to "eating too much oil," but rather "eating the wrong oil." Ideally, the ratio of omega -6 to omega -3 in the human body should be close to 1:1 to 4:1 , but the average American ratio is as high as 20:1 or even 70:1 , meaning we are consuming excessive amounts of omega -6 . This all stems from industrialized "seed oils" —such as cottonseed oil, soybean oil, corn oil, and sunflower oil which were originally machine lubricants and fuels, but have now become the main cooking oils on our tables.

Seed oils are a contributing factor to chronic inflammation.
These seemingly healthy "vegetable oils" are actually chemically processed through high temperatures, bleaching, and deodorization, making them extremely unstable and prone to oxidation, generating free radicals. When we consume large amounts of these oils, our bodies experience chronic inflammation, leading to insulin resistance, fat accumulation, decreased mitochondrial function, and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Berger emphasizes, "What truly causes modern chronic diseases is not saturated fat, but the misuse of polyunsaturated fats."

The crisis of Omega -6 excess
When there is an excess of omega -6 in the body , it suppresses the absorption and conversion of omega -3 , as the two compete for the same enzymatic pathways. As a result, the body is unable to properly produce the anti-inflammatory substances EPA and DHA , instead generating compounds that promote inflammation. This explains why modern people commonly experience joint pain, skin problems, and an increased risk of heart disease.

What kind of oil should you use? Omega -3 is key.
To restore a healthy ratio, the key is to increase omega -3 intake. The richest sources include deep-sea fish (such as salmon, sardines, and cod liver oil) and wild-caught shellfish. Conversely, the intake of poultry, pork, and grain-fed beef should be reduced, as they are high in omega -6 . Replacing these with grass-fed beef and wild-caught fish will significantly improve the quality of the fat.

The Importance of Nutritional Coordination
For fatty acids to metabolize properly, the body needs several "synergistic nutrients" —including magnesium, vitamins B2 , B3 , B6 , vitamin C , and insulin. Dr. Berg points out that most people have insulin resistance, which hinders fat metabolism. Combining a low-carb diet with intermittent fasting can improve insulin sensitivity, leading to more effective absorption and utilization of beneficial fatty acids.

Real-world measurement of your body fat percentage
Dr. Berger suggests that a simple blood test can reveal the ratio of omega -6 to omega -3 in your body . A high ratio indicates inflammation, requiring immediate dietary adjustments. He concludes, "Starting today, reduce your intake of seed oils and increase your consumption of natural fats this one step can help you avoid chronic inflammation and modern diseases."
