Insulin resistance means that the body's response to insulin is impaired, requiring the pancreas to secrete more insulin continuously. Nocturia is particularly severe in diabetic patients because when blood sugar is high, the body excretes sugar through the kidneys, and this sugar draws water, leading to frequent urination ( polyurea ).
